Tobias Husemann – Development and puppet construction

Tobias Husemann is an artist who redefines the boundaries of puppetry with his large, movable puppets. His creations, made of fibers and light, are not only technically impressive but also exude a special vibrancy.

Tobias Husemann develops and stages large puppets that create spectacular shows, events, and walking acts. With the characters Dundu and Bimbi, his team transports audiences into a poetic world unique in puppetry.

The figures, up to eight meters tall, appear both powerful and delicate thanks to their net-like structure. Their human appearance and astonishing mobility are created by an innovative game concept: A five-person team of specially trained players gives them astonishingly vivid expressiveness.

Dundu and Bimbi offer space for projections and draw on the ideal of Heinrich von Kleist’s “Gliedermann” (“Articulated Man”) – one reason why they touch audiences worldwide so deeply.
